The manifestations of ASD may be hyperactivity, delayed learning of language, difficulty in making eye contact or holding a conversation, difficulties in activities of daily living, narrow and intense interests, poor motor skills and sensory sensitivities etc. and might follow one, few or many of these behaviours, or many others besides.
It is estimated that 1 to 1.5 per cent of children between ages of three and nine in India are affected by Autism. Taking this into account NIPMR established the Regional Autism Rehabilitation& Research Centre on the 4thof August,2018

The enrolment is dependent on an appropriate vacancy within a classroom being available. This ensures children are placed with appropriate peers, and in a setting which best meets their needs.
The school functions as two batches with a total strength of 32 children. Training school for children with autism is divided as 4 classrooms (Pre- Primary, Primary, Secondary, Pre- Vocational), categorized based on the academic performance and developmental ability of the students. The students aged between 3-18 years are considered for training in these school sessions.
Each classroom is equipped with comfortable furniture and modern amenities like ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in education to support, enhance & optimize the delivery of information which research based shows much improvement in student’s outcome.
We provide a variety of different class structures. The children are grouped based on their abilities and the classes range from high support to low support. Apart from the classroom education the students get therapeutic sessions like Music/Dance Therapy, Behaviour Modification Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy as per the needs of each student after a thorough assessment. The students are trained in group as well as individual sessions.
An exclusive vocational training unit is also available for students above 18 years to 30 years of age to make them self-sufficient and productive.
