RARRC- School For Children With Autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a complex neurodevelopment phenomenon characterized by impairments in social interaction and communication, restricted repertoire of interests and stereotyped activities. ASD in “spectrum condition” affect individuals differently and in varying degrees. The manifestations of ASD may be hyperactivity, delayed learning of language, difficulty in making eye contact or holding a conversation, difficulties in activities of daily living, narrow and intense interests, poor motor skills and sensory sensitivities etc. and might follow one, few or many of these behaviours, or many others besides.

It is estimated that 1 to 1.5 per cent of children between ages of three and nine in India are affected by Autism. Taking this into account NIPMR established the Regional Autism Rehabilitation& Research Centre on the 4thof August,2018

A special educator with 8 years of experience in teaching Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) special needs children. Mrs. ATHIRA.M is an Autism Spectrum support teacher at NIPMR. A Special Educator with 4 years of experience in teaching ASD special needs children. Ms. Mable Johny helps to reach the maximum level of effectiveness in school children with ASD by providing a wide range of services on need based. She helps to plan and deliver appropriate educational instruction to students with autism spectrum disorders by providing accurate training in reading, writing, math, comprehension and communication skills to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Also she helps to instill basic life skills by promoting classroom structure, rules and procedures. She effectively participates a counseling or clinical setting, there by performing evaluations to determine the severity of disability, create IEP plans or make referrals depending on each student’s individualized needs.
