Special Transition school

Special school run by NIPMR under the social justice department. In our school is working for 3 to 18 yrs old students for cerebral palsy and associated conditions. Depending on the child's abilities and age, the classes are divided pre-primary, primary, secondary and pre-vocation. Each and every classroom has a modern style like interactive touch screens, tablets, and modified wheelchairs for each children, powered wheelchairs for specific children, modified kids chairs and tables are the specialty of the classroom.

Our key strength lies in multidisciplinary team approach, which encompasses different therapies, medical support and special education with individualized education programs to deliver the best training. All our teachers have experience in special education as well as in their own areas of specialization.

Our school working Monday to Friday 10 to 3 pm. In addition, the school mandates the participation of one of the parents of the child. This is a great help for the psychological and intellectual development of children. Parents come to school to have a good rapport with teachers and thereby contribute to the upliftment of all children.

Anu Augustine, a special teacher at the school, has designed an adaptive device called SANA for children who cannot write and communicate properly.

Objectives

A special educator with 6 years of experience in teaching special needs children. Ms.SYAMILY KP helps to reach the maximum level of effectiveness in school children with special needs by providing a wide range of services on need based. Providing special support programmes for children with learning disability and helping them in mainstreaming .Different activities and experiences designed to help them fulfil their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Anu Augustine P

Special Educator, SPECIAL TRANSITION SCHOOL (CP), NIPMR

A special educator with 12 yrs experience in teaching students with cerebral palsy and associated conditions. Mrs.Anu Augustine working as a special educator in NIPMR. She carefully plans and delivers the services according to the needs of each child and provides parental counselling regarding the inclusive education. She provides specific training for children with learning disability by helping them to mainstream in general school syllabus.

She developed an assistive device called SANA (stamp based Adaptive device for Numerical Assistance) and SAWA (stamp based Adaptive device for Writing Assistance) for students who cannot write numbers and English alphabets, with her expertise in assistive technology.
