There is a growing demand for rehabilitation personnel trained especially in this field. The DSE (ASD) course designed in 2003 was the first of its kind to provide human resource development in the field of ASD in India. The policy of RCI is to review the course curriculum after every five years to incorporate the recent development. This revised course is designed to provide the trainee teacher a comprehensive understanding of ASD and the skill and competence to meet the needs of students with ASD in regular and special education classrooms.

Eligibility Criteria 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognised central/state board of education with minimum 50% marks aggregate. However, relaxation of marks at 10+2 level for students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD Category for admission to diploma level courses will be applicable as per the reservation policy of the respective State/Central Govt.
